Silk Nog Shake

Egg nog is a staple this time of year, but I couldn't stomach the 190 calories for a 1/2 cup! I saw in a Smith's ad that they had Silk Nog. I've been using Silk in my protein shakes so I was really curious how the Silk Nog would taste. To my surprise it tasted like watered down egg nog, but still good! I decided to use it in my morning protein shake. Oh so yummy! I had to share!

Silk Nog Protein Shake: 1 cup Silk Nog, 4-5 ice cubes (depending on how thick you want it), 1/2 scoop vanilla protein powder, banana optional), generous sprinkle of nutmeg & cinnamon. Blend all together and enjoy!

Cricut Happy Birthday

Sorry, I've been a little MIA in blog land. The two boutiques I participated in are now done! Thank you to all that came! My Christmas shopping and crafting is almost done and I have a little time to post some of the things I've been up to. My little girl was invited to a friend birthday party last week. I needed a quick easy tag. I cut this tag using my Cricut and the Art Philosophy cartridge. I added some Elemental paper behind the cupcake cut out to add some color. I used a coordinating marker to write a sentiment. Simply, Easy, and Cute!

Truly Awesome Cookie Review

I was sent two boxes of The Truly Awesome homestyle chocolate chip cookies because I am a Bzz Agent. The cookies are made by Kroger. I gave them to my family as an after dinner dessert. The kids loved them. The hubby said they were good. I put them in the microwave for 10 seconds like they suggested on the package. I am not eating treats right now, so I personally can't say if they are good or not. To me they look like a larger version of a Chips Ahoy cookie. There are only 8 per package, which isn't much. The family could down that in one sitting. I don't know how much they cost, I need to check next time I go to a Kroger store. They are supposed to be a family favorite, so give them a try!

Zucchini Bread

My sister-in-law shared this recipe with me. I've been meaning to make it all summer, but haven't for one reason or another. Yesterday I found a zucchini in my garden so I decided it was about time! I don't have two loaf pans (sad I know) so I opted to make muffins instead. I think they turned out great. I shared some with a few neighbors and the kiddos like them, so I"ll be repeating this one! I'm now stocking the garden waiting for the next zucchini to grow big enough!
Zucchini Bread
3 eggs
2 cups sugar (I used 1/2 splenda)
2 cups grated zucchini
1 cup oil (can use greek yogurt or applesauce)
3 tsp vanilla
1 cup nuts or chocolate chips (optional)
3 cups flour (I used half whole wheat flour)
1 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
3 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tsp baking powder

Mix all together, bake in well-oiled bread pans at 350 degrees for 45 minutes (small) to one hour (large) depending on size of pan. Bake until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove from pans and cool.

Makes 24 muffins. Cook at 350 for 20 minutes.

X7141B Elemental Paper Packet

D1482 Love Life Stamp Set (which is one of my faves and Jeanette's too read about it here)

Z1612 Foundary Pin Clips

Cardstock used: Desert Sand, Olive, Sorbet, Creme Brulee, Colonial White. Inks used: Desert Sand, Sorbet, and Olive.

I'll be sharing with you some of the awesome cards I got in the swap soon!

Back To School No Bake Cookies

I started a little tradition when my oldest started preschool. I would have cookies waiting for him when he got home from his first day of school. This year he opted for the No Bake kind, which is fine with me since it's so hot outside still. I know there are ton of varieties out there of this same cookie, but this is the recipe I used this time.

No Bake Cookies

2 Cups Sugar

1 stick of butter/margarine

5 rounded Tbsp cocoa

1/2 cup milk

2 tsp vanilla

1/2 cup peanut butter

4 cups oatmeal

Combine sugar, butter, cocoa, and milk in saucepan; cook to steady boil for 2 minutes. Remove from heat and add other ingredients. Spoon out on waxed paper.

If You Hear Chriping.....

If you hear chirping, it's just me making something with my new one of these................

I bought myself an early birthday present. I read some of the directions and then starting cutting stuff out. Looking at the images that came with the included cartridge I was inspired to make this: I used a card base from the Card Value Pack. I used Elemental Paper Pack (one of my favorites). I used Dessert Sand Cardstock for the brackets and Smoothie Cardstock for the ric rac ribbon. The three buttons are from the Basic Collection and I put Colonial White Waxy Flax through the holes.

I had so much fun making it! I have a few more ideas looming in the brain, but they will have to wait for another day.

Lemon Cheesecake Yogurt Cups

I found this recipe on one of my newest favorite blogs called Gina's Skinny Recipes. I love it because she breaks down the food stats and for those of you doing the Weight Watcher thing, she gives you the points too! I made these late at night after my Crop 'Til You Drop so I forgot to put the wafer on the bottom, but I tried them this morning and they were still good, but I'm sure would be even better with the wafer. Darn it, I'll have to make them again.

Ingredients:
• 12 reduced fat vanilla wafers
• 8 oz 1/3 less fat cream cheese, softened
• 1/4 cup sugar
• 1 tsp vanilla
• 6 oz fat-free vanilla Greek yogurt
• 2 large egg whites
• 3 tbsp lemon juice
• 1 tbsp lemon zest (I didn’t use this, but will try it next time)
• 1 tbsp all purpose flour
• 24 blackberries

Directions:

Heat oven to 350°.

Line cupcake tin with liners. Place a vanilla wafer at the bottom of each liner.

Gently beat cream cheese, sugar and vanilla until smooth using an electric mixer. Gradually beat in fat free yogurt, egg whites, lemon juice, lemon zest and flour. Do not over beat. Pour into cupcake liners filling half way.

Bake 25 minutes or until center is almost set. Cool to room temperature. Add berries (I added more than two each because I liked having a berry for each bite) Chill a few hours in the refrigerator.

Only 109 calories each!

Disneyland Survival Kit

I'll be leaving for convention soon, but I wanted to share with you my roomie gift. It's tradition to make your roomies a little something. Like most things I stewed over what to do for a long time. After experiencing Disneyland in April I thought of the perfect thing! A Disneyland Survival Kit! I got the containers from my friend. Since we don't have Disney paper I used Tulip, White, Black and Buttercup Cardstock. I stamped stars using different stamp sets and Honey Ink. I punched the black polka dot paper from the Sweet Hearts paper packet. To personalize for each person I used the letters the Color Ready Alphabet sets and of course a little bling with sparkles. I included a little note with the following:

IT'S ALL ABOUT SURVIVAL AT DISNEYLAND!

Chapstick: You'll need to hydrate your lips from all the screaming you'll do on the rides or from new products.

Hand Sanitizer: No one wants to be sick on vacation!

Card Holder: You will get a card for everything! Disney Pass, Fast Pass, Room Key, etc. You may want to slip in a business card or two, you never know who'll meet or in case you forget who you are!

Sunscreen: You are in sunny California! An important element that seems to get forgotten.

Snack: Who has time to eat? There's too much to do and see!

I hope my roomies like them!
