Butter Cream Frosting

I had a bunch of people coming over to watch a football game, and decided to make some cupcakes. I'm not a huge fan of the frosting in a tub, so I went on a search on the Internet for a butter cream frosting, since that's the ingredients I had on hand. If found this one:

Butter cream Frosting:

4 cups powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla
4 tablespoons milk

1/2 cup shortening

1 1/2 cups butter

Cream all ingredients together. Add food coloring if desired.

I halved the recipe and it was enough to cover 24 cupcakes. I'll be using this again, I'm replacing the tub frosting forever!

Fruit 'n Nuts Trail Mix

I found a yummy trail mix at the store that included dried fruit instead of the M&M's you would normally find in a mix. I found it to be pretty expensive for just a small bag, so I set out to create my own version. I was surprised to find that I could purchase all the ingredients I needed at my local Walmart.
On can of mixed nuts (I like variety, but you could use any nuts you like)
One bag of banana chips
One bag of dried pineapple (the pieces were big, so I cut them into smaller bites)
raisins
Mix in a large baggie and enjoy! Warning! It is addictive!
Side note: Next time I think I'll try non salted nuts. It's good, but a little salty for my taste.
